Fosdinovo

Fosdinovo is located right in the heart of the historic area called Lunigiana, in the province of Massa Carrara, in green Tuscany, and can be reached by car from “La Villetta Hotel” in just 14 minutes. It’s an ancient village once crossed by the “Via Francigena” and dominion of the Malaspina Family: visiting the streets of the centre of Fosdinovo is like reliving the historical phases that went through it. The “Malaspina Castle” is very well preserved and contains period furnishings, wall paintings, a torture room, fantastic legends and, for the little ones, even a “ghost” for real. From its walkways you can enjoy a wonderful view of the valley below. In the hamlet of Caniparola there is the architectural complex of the “Arco” and the beautiful “Villa Malaspina” with its large Italian garden.

To see also: the Audiovisual Museum of the Resistance, the Malaspina Theater, the original machine of the Ancient “Marchionale” Mint kept at the “Malaspiniana Tower”, the “Oratorio dei Rossi” with its beautiful wooden "Agonizing Christ" of the '600, the “Church of San Remigio” with its marble statue of the Patron and the “Oratory of the Bianchi”. The panoramic point near the space outside the walls called "il Fosso" offers a breathtaking view over the Valley of the river Magra, Portovenere and the Palmaria Island and, on particularly clear days, your gaze sweeps to the Islands of Capraia, Gorgona, Elba and Corsica.
